Home Sweet Home!

It has now been one month since we moved into our new (to us) house! We are doing pretty well and getting settled in. We have come to realize that with owning a home comes lots of projects. We have started to fell like we are in a constant project, that from here on out there will always be something to start, finish or improve!
Front of the house before we moved in.

Here is our house now. We are working on the landscaping to try and get it the way we want. Do you see the statue to the right? It is made of wood and is the shape of a Golden Eagle. We really like it. The funny thing is that it has been here the whole time. It was under/behind the over grown bush and cactus. Which, Cactus make a horrible plant for a flower bed! It was a lot to remove with out getting poked to tears and now we are still finding stickers from it! To us the stickers were not worth the pretty flowers that come from it once a year! I am still not sure of my feelings toward the yucca plant. It may go or stay, or maybe just stay until I find something better to go in its place. I am sure everything will change over time. That is just how it seems to go!

Pet For A Day

Lindsay found a baby bird on the lawn yesterday morning. Our best guess is that it fell out of it's nest in the Chimney where there has been bird nest found in the past. The bird still had a lot of it's fuzz and just a couple of real feathers. Since, I know that your not suppose to touch baby animals, in case the mom comes back for them, I had her just look at him. But later in the day, I went back outside and she was petting it and carrying it around. She decided it really needed a worm to eat, so she dug it a worm and fed it to the bird. Then she gave it some water and made it a little bath. A little while later she was really worried the baby bird might be cold, so she asked for a blanket for it. She made it's nest in an ice cream bucket. The baby bird stayed nice and warm the rest of the day and I would like to think happily fed as well, since Lindsay alternated him with worms and left over scrambled eggs all day. She was very good at taking care of her pet for a day. He went to bed in his bucket and when we woke up he was gone. We don't really know what happened to him, we have several possibilities, many of which I don't care to think about. But, Lindsay is convinced that he chirped all night until his Mommy and Daddy bird came to take him home to his nest. So, we left it at that. Until she is a little older. Why not let her have happy thoughts, right?

Being Tourist

On the drive home Saturday we decided to stop and see Carhenge and Chimney Rock. This was for no other reason than the fact it was on the way home.

Well, it may not be the best picture, but it is the best out of the ones I have. I think we were all a little exhausted by this time of the day/trip!

Chadron State Park

This last weekend we had the opportunity to go camping at Chadron State Park with some of the Blomstedt family. We had a great time spending time together and relaxing. We enjoyed being in the outdoors, playing baseball with the kids, fishing, paddle boating, a camp fire with s'mores, a nice family fireside, riding horses, playing cards, and hiking. It is always great to spend time with family without having much of a schedule!
I was lame and didn't pull out the camera until the last day of the trip,so I have just a few pictures.

Matthew really wanted to ride and pet the horses. He even sat on Sam right away, but once Sam started to move Matthew was done with the experience. So he settled for just petting him for a while.

Visitors

This Memorial Day weekend we had some fun visitors. Great Grandma Kier, Great Aunt Linda, Grandma Baker, Aunt Katie and Uncle John all came to spend time with us. Since this was the last time we would see them before Lindsay's birthday, they bought gifts to celebrate. I was also fortunate to get a couple of very nice gifts and to see my family on my birthday.

Lindsay and Matthew LOVED riding the Ferris Wheel together.

They both really wanted to ride the race car ride. But after it started up decided that maybe it was to fast. In fact, Matthew kept that face the whole time.

The carousal was much more his speed. They both really like the carousel and it is usually rode multiple times a visit.

Thank you guys for coming and visiting us. We had a really good time. Thank you also for joining me for my very, very windy birthday picnic at the park. I still feel bad I didn't get a picture with everyone, but next time I will for sure. We Love You All!
