Happy Halloween!

Halloween Day at our house was full of activities! It started in the morning with a party at Joy School. The kids all had fun playing in their costumes together and learning about the letter P.
In the afternoon Lindsay had a friend come a play for a couple of hours. They always have such fun!
Then it was back into costumes to go the Trunk or Treat at church. The Trunk or Treat was a lot of fun. It was great to see all the kids( and adults too!) in their costumes! With a Lindsay holding one hand and a Matthew holding the other, I wasn't able to get any pictures. :( Some of the Trunks looked pretty cool and were very creative! Matthew wore out at the Trunk or Treat pretty quickly. So, we headed home and played on the porch for a while handing out candy to trick-or-treaters in the neighborhood. After resting for just a little while we went trick-or-treating around the block. The kids at this most each had about half a pumpkin full of candy and thought this was just great and that they had enough. I was not going to argue!
Then, Since the weather was so beautiful, we sat on the porch some more waiting for trick-or-treaters.
Lindsay was great at handing out the candy, in fact it was one of her favorite things of the night! She had it down to a science, two pieces for each person, except their was one girl who was a princess as well and she just had to give her three pieces. It was really cute! Soon it was time for bed, so inside we went.

Posing together, just to make mom happy!

Cinderella

She LOVED dressing up as a princess and was smiles all day!

According to Lindsay, Matthew was "My Royal Cow"

Lindsay so happy to be handing out the Candy to everyone who came by!

We had a fun and not to crazy Halloween. Hope yours was great as well! Happy Halloween!

!Pumpkins!

Halloween started a little early at our house this year. We found out a couple weeks before that Joe would be working out of town the week of Halloween.  We decided to carve our pumpkins early since Joe is the one that enjoys the carving and mess much more than I do.
This year our friends the Odle's invited us over to their house to do the pumpkin carving. The kids, mostly Lindsay and Emily, enjoyed doing it together! We all had a great time and got to watch some husker football too! Thanks for a great time, as always, Odle's!

Boys!?!

I don't know rather to laugh out loud or to think I have failed today. I had to use the bathroom, like most people do. The kids were playing in the toy room and seemed content. While in the bathroom for 3-4 minutes Matthew had decided he was thirsty. I came out to find half a bottle chocolate syrup on the floor and Matthew drinking from the milk carton. As I stood there in awe for a moment he proceeded to lick more chocolate syrup from the floor and drink more milk from the carton. This was done until I stopped him. Which was after I grabbed the camera for a quick picture or two. I was also very thankful the floor was mopped last night, because honestly yesterday it would have been a whole lot more gross to lick off of the floor.

Some of the things Matthew comes up with make me wonder if it is the difference in a girl verses a boy or just ideas of being an individual. Perhaps it is both. All I can say is: Really?!?

Nursery Rhymes

Lindsay loves nursery rhymes. She loves to memorize and then pretend she is reading a book while reciting them. Today she was watching a show on PBS and a boy on the TV said he was going to jump over the moon. She ran to me in the other room and said "He is silly, people can't jump over the moon. only cows or jumping cows." And she was dead serious! I just had to post to remember just how serious she really does take her nursery rhymes! I couldn't quit laughing!

First Snow and Conference Weekend

We had the first snow of the season. It's a little to early in the season in my opinion. But, it made snuggling on the couch to watch General Conference that much more enjoyable!

Matthew coming in from playing in the falling snow!

Snow falling on the still blooming mini roses and lilies.

Starting to stick to the grass.

But, melting right away on the cement.

Snow still in the air falling around the half bare tree.

It snowed for 2-4 hours on each Friday and Saturday. The snow was mostly pretty and then hit the ground as if rain. The most depressing part was the cold temps. I don't think it reached above 40 on Saturday! We were not ready for it as we were digging trough unpacked boxes full of winter coats and mittens. But, with the weather forecasted to be up in the 60 again in a couple of days, hopefully now we can properly prepare for winter and the falling temps!
Along with the excitement of snow and dismay of temps being so low, we loved being able to stay home for the weekend and watch General Conference! The talks were very inspiring and uplifting as they always are. I love listening to the Prophet and the many general authorities share inspiration and their testimonies with us. I hope to be able to use what I have heard this weekend to become a better person and to enrich my family. I also can not wait until the next General Conference in April!
